The platform on the stage goes round and round...

If you've ever seen a live production where a part of the stage rotates (much like the famous fireplace in Young Frankenstein) then you've most likely seen a device called a 'revolve' in use to do it.

Today I helped install a 10' diameter revolve for Open Circle Theatre's production of Blood Wedding (by Lorca). It was quite the undertaking. I got there around 13:00 and left around 20:00 with no real breaks during the time. After a very nice Indian dinner on Capital Hill I managed to get home by 22:15 or so.

By the time we left we had a fully functional revolve with breaks (you have to be able to stop it, you know :). It turns out I'll be responsible for the care and feeding as well as protecting and operating of this revolve during the production. I guess that means I'm the revolutionary guard.

I got a phone call from my boss this evening...

It was an emergency call.

A truffle emergency.

It seems she found a supply of truffles and wanted to get them to me (for my New Year's gift) quickly so I can use them before they go bad.

Those kinds of emergency calls are more than welcome, any time.
