Yesterday as I was backing up some SCA-related data I got a message inviting me to join a co-worker at the Seafoodfest in Ballard. I pictured a crowded place with lots of people fighting over parking and access but my initial hesitance was removed when he offered to come pick me up. Since he lives over there I figured he'd have a parking place and that would be so much better than me driving over there and circling for half-an-hour looking for a place to put my car (the bus wasn't an option, I had 4pm plans and had to be home by 3pm). Turns out he doesn't have a parking place but we only circled for about 15 minutes before giving up and driving far enough out that we found a spot easily.

The specialty of the fest was a smoked salmon lunch for $8. It was worth every penny and the walk. The salmon was spiced and smoked to perfection. I won't go into details on the bread and "cold salad" (aka slaw) served with it.

We spent a little time walking among the booth selling everything from tie-died shirts to cut metal sculpture to Native American art (a really nice large marble bear was a mere $1200). Of course there were lots of other food booths - icies, cajun grilled alligator on a stick, gyros, etc. It was a small fest but a nice one. It was fun, I'm glad I went.

I got back in time to make it to the 4pm pot-luck being hosted by some foodie friends in honor of a visiting mother. I saw people from the chriscooks group I hadn't seen in quite a while. It was a nice 4 or so hours of noshing and chatting. Then I went home and went back to burning DVDs.

Tonight I have 7:30pm reservations for 4 people at the Market Street Grill which is just down the street from where the fest was. We walked past it on the way in and I remembered that I'd been meaning to go back there. So far I have 2 people joining me. Anyone else want to come?
