I resumed the phonecalls at 05:00 this morning, calling SAS to see if they could do anything or had anything to say. They also said it was the travel agent's fault/problem but she was able to get me an aisle seat on the outbound flight (all of my previous work had been undone, of course, so I lost both of my pre-reserved seats.)

At 06:00 I called airefare.com because that's what time the supervisors come in. I finally got to talk with one around 06:10 or so.

The "supervisor" (Andy, x214) at airfare.com made interesting claims this morning. He didn't even mention the lady at United. This time, according to him, it was a supervisor at SAS who rebooked me so they could bump me from the flight yadda yadda yadda. They (airfare.com) would need a waver from SAS before they could reissue the ticket. yadda yadda yadda.

After a bit of "discussion" he said he would contact his ticketing people and call me back. This was around 07:08 or so. SprintPCS is going to love me long time this month. (Most of the calls were during the unlimited night hours so hopefully I haven't actually used up my anytime minutes this month. In fact, I think they reset on the 23rd so I might be in great shape, now I think about it.)

Much to my surprise, the supervisor did call me back about an hour later (just as I was reaching for the phone to call him). He said United had taken care of it and everything was ok now.

Well, the flight is back in my United miles plus listing and I show having a seat on the outbound flight just like the SAS lady said (it even shows the right seat). Hopefully I can reserve the return seat at the airport today.

I still plan to be at the airport at 14:45 so I can be first in line at the SAS counter for their 15:30 opening. I'm not 100% sure things really are fixed. If I have had enough pain maybe I'll even be able to upgrade to Economy Extra (more leg room and real food) for a mere $300 one way. Na, that's not going to happen.
location: Still in Seattle
Mood:: slightly more hopeful
